I’ve started using a news reader (aka news aggregator) called Newz Crawler. It costs $25 but it seems reasonable.
It keeps track of various news feeds that are provided in an RSS format. The RSS format is essentially an XML format speciffically designed for news content. You can see an example of a news feed at: BBC Front Page
Looks wacky, eh? Whatever, it’s a standard and many bloggers are using it. You can see my RSS blog feed by clicking on the orange button or the Syndication Link (on the blog’s home page – they do the same thing).
Interestingly, most blogs support the RSS news feed format which gives me the ability to subscribe to most blogs. Along with regularly updated news feeds, I can scan for updates on blogs of interest to which I am subscribed.
Here is an excellent list of news aggregators from Haiko Hebig.
